Kiss The Miss Goodbye – DIY Lip Gloss

Looking for an ultra unique favor idea for your bridal shower? How about you Kiss the Miss Goodbye with a DIY Lipgloss Bar! Your bride tribe will not be able to resist the lure of keeping their kissers soft by creating their own lip gloss!

You’ll have a blast customizing and remixing the variations on this recipe to find your perfect match. More color, more flavor, more gloss? Go for it! Here are some great suggestions to get you started on your path to lip gloss glory!

To make your gloss, you’ll need:Basic Ingredients:

– Wax – beeswax or paraffin – grated or in pearls

– Carrier oil – castor, sesame, almond, jojoba, sunflower, coconut, olive, etc.

Optional:

– Cocoa butter or shea butter

– Vitamin E oil

– Flavoring: natural extract, essential oils, or even kool-aid or torani syrup!

– Color: beet juice, lipstick nubs, food coloring, etc.

Tools:

– Microwave-proof container

– Stirring stick (I use chopsticks)

– Small containers or tubes

Add 1 tablespoon of grated wax (we prefer beeswax pearls) to the microwaveable container.Melt wax. in the microwave on high for approx 1 min.

Stir in 1 tablespoon of your selected carrier oil or oil blend.At this point, you’re done, however, we recommend the following to customize your gal’s gloss.Add 1/8 teaspoon vitamin e oil for its multitude of benefits.Add 1/4 teaspoon cocoa or shea butter to make lips super soft.

Add 1/8 teaspoon of your favorite extract or a few drops of essential oils.Make sure if you’re using an essential oil that you’re aware of its specific dilution suggestions.

(The first time we attempted our own lipgloss we didn’t look into dilution and added too much peppermint oil to our orange oil and created chemical weaponry. Whoops! The next batch we made we used just orange essence…it was perfection!!)

Adding in a bit of your favorite lipstick is your best bet for the perfect color. It’s already ready to go! Alternatively, you can try food coloring, or even beet juice. Stir it well to ensure its fully blended.You may need to reintroduce your concoction to the microwave at this point. We recommend 30 second intervals on high.

If you’re pouring into tubes or tins, we recommend using a small funnel or pipette to keep the mess to a minimum.
