If you question whether the images your photographer is displaying images from a real wedding or a styled shoot, ask them about it. There is good reason fro wanting to be sure that you see their work from a real wedding day and not just from styled shoots.

When choosing your wedding photographer, be sure they show you galleries from real weddings of the full day! You want to see how they handle the crowds. Things like unexpected surprises and odd lighting situations. The difference between a real wedding or styled shoot is massive! With a styled shoot you have complete control over all the aspects and elements. With a wedding you have to go with the flow of the day regardless of what it brings.

You want to know that they can handle the real elements of a wedding day. Everything from the dark church basement to the uplighting of a reception. Also ask if they shoot with off camera flash, bounce the flash or shoot with on camera flash. If they bounce their flash or shoot with an off camera flash they have more experience and skill in their field. Also, if they cannot show you a full wedding gallery, move on. You want someone with plenty of experience to handle anything life throws their way. You deserve the best on your wedding day!

Ask your potential photographer about styled photos. There is nothing wrong with being a part of a styled shoots, but there is a huge difference between those and a real wedding day, where you cannot control the elements.

These images are from an amazing styled shoot I designed. Is it gorgeous? Yes! Is it a real couple? Yes! But, all elements could be controlled and were planned by professionals in the industry.Want to know a secret? We styled it all in an abandoned grocery store. See what I mean about being able to control all of the elements? We have blogged about styled shoots before, you can find more information on them here: Styled Shoot.
