Shobi and Candace are engaged! The party celebrating their long anticipated wedding at the Frist Art Museum was such fun! We are so glad that Angel Patricia Photo was there to artfully capture all the beautiful details as they made memories with those that they love the most.

Upon arrival to The Frist Art Museum, guests were asked to give their advice for a long and happy marriage while waiting their turn to sign the guest book. Opting for something a bit more unique, Candace and Shobi has them sign a record. Being passionate music lovers, a record from their first concert together was chosen.

Refreshments for cocktail hour were provided by Chauhan Masala Ale House and the fabulous bartenders at The Frist Art Museum. Guests were delighted with the beautiful architectual design of one of Nashville’s great historic landmarks. This former main post office was constructed 1933. It is faced in white Georgia marble with gray-pink Minnesota granite. It is a perfect example on the exterior of stripped classicism expressing the values of permanence, stability, and order. Value the classical style had traditionally embodied. Inside, however, cast aluminum doors and grillwork, as well as colored marble and stones on the floors and walls, follow the more decorative Art Deco trend. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places The Frist Art Museum is a sight to behold!

In addition to enjoying passed appetizers and cocktails, guests were welcomes into the museum galleries. The Jeffrey Gibson: The Body Electric, exhibit was the most popular. This display celebrated the artist’s vibrant paintings, sculpture, video, and installations. Jeffrey Gibson, an artist of Cherokee heritage and a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw, featuring traditional Indigenous art and culture with a modernist spin. The Body Electric is a call for Indigenous empowerment as well as queer visibility and environmental sustainability.

Everyone kept asking to see Candace’s unique engagement ring. Why wouldn’t they? It was absolutely beautiful. A vibrant pear shaped sapphire flanked by diamonds. We just know it will pair perfectly with whatever wedding band Shobi has selected for her.

Once they found their seating cards, guests were ushered into the main ballroom of the museum. Tables were dressed with crisp white linens, china, flatware and glassware provided by Southern Events Party Rentals. Elegant uplighting from Bright Events splashed the walls with a floral pattern echoing the peach petals and roses, on each table. Shobi and Candace wanted something refined and uncomplicated to simply compliment the beauty of the Frist Art Museum. It certainly was a beautiful and classic design.

Few things are more delightful than all your nieces and nephews surprising you with an engagement gift. Half way through dinner all of a sudden dancers all dressed accordingly popped up from their seats. Dancing, they made their way to the center of the room where they performed a choreographed dance for their Uncle and Aunt to be. These kids are not only adorable, but they certainly are talented, too. Everyone was tapping their toes to that Bollywood hit!

A hard act to follow, once the kids performance was completed, Shobi’s siblings took the stage. Joined by cousins, nieces and nephews, the bride and groom were once more entertained by a choreographed dance. This one to a popular 98 Degrees selection, “I Do.”

Offering signature cocktails, the bartending team kept everyone in good spirits. Chauhan Ale and Masala House offered all of the dishes they are so well known for…like Nashville hot chicken pakoras, Malabar crab cakes, saag mac & cheese as well as many others. Following dinner were the sweets served by Woodlands Indian Vegetarian Cuisine. They had the most delicious gulab jamun and carrot halwa! With so many offerings the guests were well fed and glad to enjoy.

Candace and Shobi make an exceptional duo. Their free spirits, creativity, and charming personalities make every experience shared with them, delightful. Whether it’s a new adventure or a shared endeavor, they are always all-in!

There were many speeches – some sweet and spicy. However, they were all perfectly balanced by the heartwarming speech from Shobi’s parents Usha and Pretap. These proud parents were overjoyed that their son found his perfect match. Everyone was overjoyed to welcome Candace to the family. We know they all look forward to having her in their lives.

As always, DJ Kenny Boyd gets everyone out onto the dance floor and KEEPS them there! This was an amazing dancing crowd. And they didn’t just dance. There was singing, too! DJ Kenny got people on their feet, having an absolute blast and the family did the rest. Uncle Subash certainly knows how to get them all in the groove with his smooth singing style!
