James and Mildred’s romantic 60th wedding anniversary celebration at Steel Magnolia Barn was absolutely stunning. We are so glad that Melina Masse Photo was there to artfully capture all the beautiful details as they made memories with those that they love the most.

The day began with the expert stylists at R&Co Bridal Beauty primping and pampering the bride and her lovely ladies. Everyone from her sisters, daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Everything from hair to expertly applied makeup…they certainly looked amazing!

Even thought it had been six decades of love, everyone kept asking to see Mildred’s beautiful rings. Why wouldn’t they? They are absolutely lovely! One with a delicate halo of diamonds surrounding the center stone. The other an elegant bejeweled band. Both are perfectly paired with the wedding band James has proudly worn for sixty years.

The family was so excited to be celebrating James and Mildred’s 60th wedding anniversary that they oped to matched, but mismatched. This created a delightful visual as they paired up for memorable family photos. Beautiful soft shades from mauve to magenta, blush to lilac, they perfectly complimented the beautiful couple. The gentlemen wore matching dark blue suits all looking incredibly handsome. They looked absolutely perfect for this beautiful autumn wedding anniversary celebration.

All though out Steel Magnolia Barn were little touches of James and Mildred. Our favorite thing, however, was Mildred’s going away suit from her wedding ceremony sixty years ago. Weren’t they a beautiful couple? So very much in love!

The gorgeous purple, orange, magenta, yellow lilac, peach, and pink overflowing garlands of florals were the epitome of elegance. The stunning design created by Faye & Ivy Florals has flowers absolutely everywhere. Dripping from the chandeliers, climbing up the crystal candelabras and hanging down from tabletop arbors. Accented with lush greenery these were the perfect accent for a celebration of 60 years of love!

The sweetheart table was a centerpiece to behold. Created specifically to celebrate the loving couple, beautiful bouquets spilled over and cascaded around their table. Such a stunning array of blossoms! These were truly the most perfect florals for such a wonderful bride and groom.

Offering signature cocktails, wine and local beers, Dixie Em’s Events & Bartending had a celebratory sipping station to keep the part vibe going. And its hard not to love a bartender who is as thrilled for the happy couple as the attendees are!!

The fabulous food from The Bakery Box had a delicious buffet offering everything from Nashville’s signature sides to the amazing southern chicken they are so well known for…in addition to many other delectable delights! With so many offerings the guests were well fed and glad to enjoy.

Steel Magnolia Barn offers three fabulous backdrop options for the festive photo booth. The classic and ever popular green boxwood wall, an elegant wedding white floral wall and the lush pink and purple floral wall featured at Mildred & James’ reception. This was definitely a draw for many many selfies as well as photo booth users. Being able to add your custom neon sign to make it even more personalized is just an added bonus to this fabulous feature!

Jenifer’s Cakes created a beautiful garden cake display for Mildred & James. I imagine the cake on their wedding day wasn’t nearly as decadent. Featuring fresh fall flavors like snickerdoodle, strawberry lemonade and French vanilla there was something for everyone.

Blooming Kupcakes crafted the loveliest cupcakes for this wedding anniversary celebration. Talk about being instagrammable! We caught just as many people posing with the cupcakes for photos as there were eating them! Can you blame them?

James and Mildred could hardly wait to cut their 60th anniversary wedding cake. A crowd not only formed to cheer on this sweet couple, but to taste this confectionary creation they had heard so much about. With guests coming back for seconds and even thirds, there wasn’t a single slice left at the end of the evening.

Steel Magnolia Barn is a beautiful wedding and event venue located on a 600 acre farm. It’s the perfect combination or rustic and glam. They offer a spacious bridal suite with 5 hair and makeup stations and a private bathroom. The groom’s cottage has a living room with a TV and air hockey table, kitchen and private bathroom. The main reception area is adorned with beautiful chandeliers, wood walls, twinkling lights and exposed brick. The open air patio that is perfect for a dance floor with string lights overhead. The covered pavilion is decorated with chandeliers that can also be used as a ceremony location in the event of inclement weather. Best of all, they have a decor package that includes everything you can possibly dream of from linens, plates and glasses to flatware, candle holders and faux garlands.

Featuring several different ceremony and photo sites including a water front area and a little white chapel Steel Magnolia Barn is an absolute gem. Truly the perfect place for any special event. And with 600 acres to roam the possibilities are endless!

Having performed together since the age of seven, The Jolly String Quartet has developed a musical synergy that is rich, expressive and rare. These classically trained musicians create a colorful rand diverse repertoire spanning classical, pop, jazz, folk, gospel, blues, and bluegrass guaranteed to delight. We certainly saw more than one party goer tapping their toes to their tunes. These Russian born siblings certainly know how to get everyone in a celebratory mood!

While Steel Magnolia Barn offers many lovely ceremony locations, none are as popular as the pond side pier that juts out slightly into the beautiful turquoise blue water. With a fountain delicately sprinkling in the center, this is certainly the most romantic place on the property to exchange or renew your vows…or even to just use as a photo location. With the sun setting through the trees and sparkling off the water something magical happens.

We would be remiss if we didn’t make special mention of Mildred’s gorgeous bouquet. A large lush array of roses and colorful blooms this stunning assembly was even more impressive in person. Knowing that James would bring Mildred roses for each anniversary they were the featured flower and the central theme in the design. Resembling the most beautiful Tennessee sunset just as the sun sinks into the hills, this bouquet was something to be seen! Purple and lilac roses paired with orange and peach roses. All accented with a host of premium flowers and greenery…it smelled as good as it looked!

Mildred and James are the perfect pair. We have never met two people who were better suited for one another than these two. Both light hearted, incredibly caring and passionate about their family, they are all in on whatever they have planned. Still in the honeymoon phase even after 60 years of marriage, these two are just the sweetest couple. And not only did these two have all the moves they had us smiling like crazy at how adorable they are. It is quite clear they have cut a rug together before…and often! We couldn’t help but smile as they danced to their wedding song by Johnny Mathis, “The Twelfth of Never.”

Mildred and her sisters are well known locally for their beautiful voices. These songstresses gathered together to entertain their guests with their angelic singing. This was a real treat for all who had gathered to celebrate James and Mildred’s wedding anniversary.

A great time was had by all, but most of all by James and Mildred who delighted in having all of those they love most in one place together. Guests mingled outside at on the patio under the string lights, danced in front of an incredible bluegrass band and ate sweets and savories until they could no longer move. This was certainly a party for the ages! We look forward to helping these lovebirds celebrate 70 years when the time comes!!
