A Downton Abbey Wedding at Oaklands Mansion

Amanda and Morgan’s Downton Abbey wedding at Oaklands Mansion was truly something to behold. Every last detail was meticulously selected by the bride to create the most stunning backdrop for their wedding day.

Bridal Primping

The day began with the expert stylists from 931 Beauty Co. primping and pampering Amanda and her lovely maids as they lounged in the bridal cottage on the Oaklands Mansion estate. Knowing that February can get cold and damp in Tennessee, Amanda made sure that her bride tribe was warm and snuggly. While not quite Downton Abby, it is undeniable that their animal themed onesies were full of furry fun!

Bridal Details

When it was time for Amanda to get into her dress everyone was wowed! She looked absolutely stunning. The Downton Abbey inspired details were what really won everyone over, though. She wore a simple satin gown bedecked with emerald and diamond rhinestone accents. The green tied in her signature color as the rhinestones captured the light. She shimmered as she walked down the aisle.

The First Look

Morgan and Amanda’s first look was just so sweet. The excitement and anticipation from both of them was palatable. Morgan was speechless with how lovely his soon to be wife looked. Not to be outdone, he also had to show off his snazzy duds.

The Bridal Party

With elegant emerald velvet gowns selected from Revelry for her bridesmaids and handsome suits for the groomsmen from JM Street Menswear their wedding party looked the part. Clearly they were all ready for Amanda and Morgan’s wedding. (Or were they extras for the next season of Downton Abbey?)

Elegant Oaklands Mansion

With a shared love of history, Morgan and Amanda were thrilled to be able to have their bridal portraits taken inside Oaklands Mansion. We are certain that it is impossible to take a bad photo inside this stately mansion. Oaklands Mansion is truly noteworthy. From the spiraling grand staircase dating to 1860 to the sumptuous front parlor accented with gold leaf and a stunning chandelier. This elegant mansion is a feast for the eyes.

The Wedding Ceremony

The ceremony was a bit of a surprise to all in attendance as Morgan and Amanda secretly eloped exactly one year prior. COVID tried its best to throw a wrench into their plans but they certainly didn’t let it stop them! Thankfully, it was a good surprise that was met with gasps of surprise then cheers as they renewed their vows to love and cherish till death.

The Wedding Rings

Following the ring exchange, everyone gathered around the newlyweds to get a closer look. Morgan proposed with his grandmother’s ring. It was a beautiful vintage piece from the 1920s. His grandparents had been happily married for over 60 years. Everyone wishes that and more for these newlyweds! Amanda gave her groom a stunning wedding band with a polished piece of whisky barrel in the center. Such a unique piece!

The Floral Decor

The gorgeous white flowers from Petals & Branches by Delfino accented with emerald green and gold glassware was set on long tables. The elegant tables stretched the length of the ballroom. Black chiavari chairs lined the rows awaiting the guests. Each place setting was decorated with an emerald linen napkin with gold flatware and a preset pear salad which also matched the wedding colors perfectly. Long garlands of greenery, white roses and gold candle holders decorated the tables filling the room with a lovely fragrance.

Food and Drinks

Featuring the Apply Ever After, the Blackberry Ginger Mule, the Cucumber Gimlet and the Smokey Paloma, guests were delighted with the delicious signature cocktails created by Bar Magnolia. After cocktail, guests were invited into the stately Maney Hall ballroom at Oaklands Mansion for the reception. They were then treated to a sumptuous dinner from the skilled chefs at Tasty Table Catering.

The Wedding Cakes

For second breakfast…or maybe Elevenses depending on where you are in your Hobbit eating schedule, Morgan and Amanda cut into their Hobbit themed cake. The groom’s cake was a delightful Hobbit Hole created by Olive Branch Bakery with a matching equally elegant shimmering gold and green tiered wedding cake. And, yes. It WAS as good as it looks!!

The Toasts

Toasting their love with personalized flutes gifted to them by their Weddings & Events by Raina wedding planner the maid of honor had everyone in happy tears. Thankfully, the best man followed that up with his speech. He spilled the beans on his adventures with the loving couple. He certainly had everyone rolling with laughter as he recounted their antics!

The Shoelywed Game

After toasts we all played a little game to see how well this cute couple really knows each other. The DJ called out a series of questions. Asking things like, “Who snores louder?” “Who is the better driver?” and “Who made the first move?” The bride and groom would lift either her shoe or his in reply. Seeing how they matched their answers and didn’t was certainly hilarious!!

Dancing The Night Away

And then finally the dance floor was open to all couples who had an absolute blast with all the great tunes played by DJ Connection. Not a single person was in their seats as they danced the night away. This was definitely a night to remember!!
