Olivia’s Beautiful Beau Cheval Quinceanera

The centuries old traditions of a Quinceanera celebration is a beautiful way to celebrate a young girl’s transition into adulthood. Unlike the American “Sweet 16” celebration, these celebrations are steeped in culture and tradition for young ladies turning 15.

Rooted in Latin culture, Quinceanera celebrations differ depending on the location you live in. Despite not having Latin blood, Olivia has always held a deep appreciation for their traditions and culture and decided on a more meaningful Quinceanera rather than a traditional American sweet sixteen.

History of the Quinceanera

During the height of the Aztecs, when a girl turned 15 she would be considered to be ready for marriage. This celebration of her coming of age originated in Mexico, however, Quinceaneras are now celebrated all over the world. While most will begin with a religious mass at church for blessings for the birthday girl, Olivia opted to have blessings from her family at the beautiful Beau Cheval instead. Entering the ballroom ahead of her were her parents and her court. Olivia, our beautiful Quinceanera was escorted by her brother into the celebration.

The Quinceanera’s Traditional Court

Olivia, our beautiful Quinceanera was accompanied by her damas, her closest girlfriends Quinn and Sydney and the chamberlain, her brother Winston, making up her court. Making memories is what is all about, so that’s why it’s so important to have your closest friends and sibling participating.

The Father-Daughter Dance

As one of the most memorable moments during the Quinceanera celebration, the father daughter dance is so important. This dance symbolizes that her father is the first man in her life. It is the perfect way for the reception to begin as the song is often very meaningful for dad and daughter.

The Quinceanera Toasts

To honor the beautiful Quinceanera on her special day, Olivia’s parents take the time to thank family and friends. It’s a rather emotional time since they now see their daughter as a grown up. They share a few words about her and after her parents are done speaking, Olivia chose to say a few words of her own. The Quinceanera’s toast is significant because it is the first time Olivia has chosen to speak publicly as young woman.

Quinceanera Changing of the Shoes

What could symbolize adulthood better rather than a pair of high heels? The exchanging of flats, or in this case tennis shoes, to sparkling block heels paves the way towards her becoming an adult. Flats represent childhood while heels are her step toward becoming an adult. It was such a sweet moment for Greg and his daughter Olivia to share.

Quinceanera Tiara

A tiara is meant to symbolize the beauty of the Quinceanera in the eyes of God. It symbolizes her faith and the sovereignty of God in her life. It was a very touching moment to watch Olivia’s mother Angel place the tiara on her head.

Quinceanera Gifts and Earrings

Gifts ideas are a big deal when it comes to a Quinceanera. Often much symbolism can be found within each gift. Our beautiful Quinceanera Olivia was gifted earrings as a reminder to her to keep her ears open to God and her faith as well as a beautiful crucifix necklace by her parents. This is an outward sign that she practices what she preaches as she leads a Christlike life.

The Last Doll

Our beautiful Quinceanera was gifted a doll by her father. This is to symbolize leaving childish possessions behind for more adult possessions. It is a sign that he accepts that his little girl’s interests will eventually move past toys. We just loved how this adorable teddy bear was also dressed like the beautiful Quinceanera.

The Cake Cutting

Like any great celebration, there has to be cake involved! In keeping with her woodland fairytale theme this beautiful and delicious cake had everyone all aflutter. Sweet Caroline Bakes made sure that the Quinceanera cake was adorned with tiny sugar birds and butterflies guests were excited when Olivia stepped over to the dessert table for cake cutting time.

The Quinceanera Gown

If it’s your birthday, of course you want to be in the spotlight! The traditional Quinceanera gown is meant to be a lavish outfit and Olivia’s gorgeous gown from Moda 2000 certainly did not disappoint! Floating on air and sparkling in the sunlight, our beautiful Quinceanera was an absolute dream. No one could take their eyes off her!

Fiesta Time!

Unlike usual parties, Quinceaneras have an amazing celebration! This the time for guests to relax, enjoy, have a shot of tequilla, even. DJ Josh had a wide variety of music to keep everyone out on the dance floor all night long. Playing everything from traditional music to Olivia’s favorite pop hits kept that dance floor crowded.
